If you love Vera Bradley you HAVE to experience the outlet sale. It is crazy, it is a mad house, it is women on a mission for that perfect bag at a really low price, so WATCH OUT!!!!
Personally I have been to the sale in Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA and Fort Wayne, IN. I have slept on the sidewalk, stood guard for my friends, and drug contractor trash bags full of purses to the check out line. People bring rolling trash cans, strollers, carts, you name it to carry as much as they can to the check out line. Even though you are told not to resale these items, msot everyone resales on Ebay and many at the flea market. As long as you do your research you can profit a good deal on Ebay.
!. Before going to the sale, know what will be there. Go to verabradley.com and there is a SALE link. Also, any pattern that has been retired will be there in all the shapes and sizes, not just the retired shapes and sizes.
2. A very important part of your research is to look on Ebay and see what is selling and for what price. You don't want to get stuck with a bunch of things you can't sell.
3.When going to the sale, bring something to carry your purses around, even if it is a husband! You can bring a stroller, anything that rolls works well. Trust me, trash bags are awkward and hurt your hands after a while.
4.BRING A FRIEND!!!! I cannot stress this enough. I would never go to one of these alone. It's no fun for one and secondly, one person can guard what you do have so you can run and get more. My friend and I tag teamed and took turns going back for more.
Be prepared to spend ALOT. My friend said he budget was $100. I laughed. She spent $600. I spent $1300. Most people hit the $2500 limit. Just be prepared. They take debit, credit, cash and checks.
5. LEAVE YOUR KIDS AT HOME! This sounds like common sense but you would not believe how many people drag their kids/babies through all this. It is too chaotic for children to be in.
6. Get there early. Not kidding. At Fort Wayne I was there at midnight and was behind about 14 people. The sale opened at 8am. By 4am there were over 300 people and by 6 am we couldn't see the line it was so long. by7 am they let us inside the building and the line went all the way through the Coliseum and wrapped back around.
7. Go on the last day if you can. The selection is a little slimmer, but the prices are drastically reduced. I was buying $90 items for $9 and $30-80 things for $1. They were giving things away as well.
This is the best advice I can give to those who have never been, except, HAVE FUN!!!!

Oh, hello. Didn't see you there. I was just busy being regaled by this incredibly well-written and informative blog post. Thanks to this majestic document I now feel capable of braving the mad crowds and maybe, just maybe, buying a purse of my very own. Armed with this knowledge I am like a hurricane of purse-buying. Cat 5.
A+++ Writer
Would read again.
Very nice. Very nice. These things are like comicon for women right? Was there people walking around in huge purse suits? If not, that needs to change. Change, that's kinda funny cause it goes in a purse. I wonder if I'll be able to find one a Vera Bradley to go with my plaid high-top converses.Post another entry now!!
i don't know how you do it...i would lose my mind going to one of those things! you have way more determination & patience than i do. :)
Wow. I didn't know that you sold your purses after you bought them. Very very clever. You must have had a car-full if they were so incredibly cheap. Hm... I will have to visit one of these "mad houses" at the next opportunity.
Mad house yes that is a good description...... Wear Confortable shoes!!!!!!
